Private boaters may off-load passengers and equipment at the dock but must anchor off island, out of the channel fairway. Secure anchoring is the sole responsibility of the boat operator. facilitiesDescription Camping is available on four different islands: Peddocks, Bumpkin, Grape and Lovells islands and is accessible by private boat or ferry service only. Amenities are limited to composting toilets only, no showers, no supplies and access to fresh water is only available on Peddocks Island.* Campers must bring one gallon of water per person per day*. Please plan to carry it all in and carry it all out. Yurt camping is available on Peddocks Island. Each site has a picnic table and grill. Campfires are not permitted on campsites, but are allowed below the high tide mark. Spectacle, Georges, Grape, Bumpkin, Lovells and Peddocks Islands can only be accessed by ferry or private boat. Passenger Ferries are located at Long Wharf North, and the Hingham Shipyard in Hingham. Free parking is available in Hingham upon check-in where visitors will receive a placard for display in their vehicles. importantInformation Specific to the facility: Please make arrangements for private boat or public ferry transportation to your island destination. For more information please visit www.bostonharborislands.org or call 617-223-8666. Reservations are not site specific on Grape, Lovells and Bumpkin. At check-in, the park staff will assign a site/area to you. Fresh water is not available for showers or drinking. Remember, campers should bring at least 1 gallon drinking water per person, per day. Peddocks Island has yurts and the tent sites are site specific and can be reserved in advance. Peddocks has potable water for drinking, but no showers. Please read the important information below, prior to making a reservation. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all Massachusetts state parks and campgrounds. Massachusetts prohibits the transportation of firewood into or out of any DCR campground. Transportation of firewood or other wood products, may result in eviction. Check-in time is 1:00 to 9:00 pm; check out by 11:00 am. Quiet hours are 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. The use of generators is not permitted during quiet hours except for the purpose of operating a medical device. Reservation and Occupancy: Campers and/or camping equipment are limited to 14 cumulative days occupancy in any one park between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Violators of the 14-day limit may have their reservation cancelled and be asked to leave the park. Reservations must be in the name of the primary occupant, who is at least 18 years of age. A photo ID is required at check- in and must match the name on the reservation. Campsite occupancy is limited to four adults, or two adults and the children in their care. Campsites are limited to two tents. Reservations with departure dates outside the 6-month maximum window cannot be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. Cancellations and changes will incur a $10 fee. Day of arrival cancellations require a phone call to the campground and will result in the loss of the first night's camping fee, plus the $10 cancellation fee. Reserved campsites will be held until 8:00 am on the day after your scheduled arrival date. If we are not contacted, your reservation will be no-showed resulting in no refund. Camping with Pets: Pets are not permitted on Boston Harbor Islands at any time.
